Dear Natural Health Friends, Thyroid Issues? It’s a symptom. Constipation (often lifelong), skin issues, gut issues, weight gain, and low energy can all be signs of a thyroid issue lurking. The thyroid is a sensitive and reactive gland to the overall state of the body. It reacts to foods, hormone imbalances, and toxins. So, if your thyroid is low (or high)—the problem is coming from somewhere else. Taking medication can be necessary, but it’s not fixing the underlying problem. Here’s a crash course in the things you should get evaluated if you suspect your thyroid is out of whack: Food sensitivities to wheat and dairy (IgG) Liver and gallbladder health Folate levels B12 levels B1 levels Magnesium, iron and iodine levels T3-T4 conversion The Sheehan Comprehensive Blood Panel assesses for all of these nutritional factors! There is also the issue of fixing underlying chronic immune system challenges, such as parasites, viruses, yeast, mold, or bacterial challenges. These can lurk in the body and cause havoc. They can be tricky to help. So, if you suspect or know you have a thyroid issue, look a little deeper, and you could very likely find the nutritional factors that are causing it. And with the proper guidance, it’s actually quite simple to turn the health of the thyroid around! This gland can actually heal, with the right support. Let us know…what have your experiences been healing your own thyroid? We love to hear what has worked for you. Sincerely yours, Laura Sheehan

The Human Microbiome: Health Starts in the Gut The microbiome is the community of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other microorganisms that live in and on our bodies—especially in...
Dear Natural Health Friends, High blood pressure is one of those things I see so often in practice. Many people come in feeling fine but discover their numbers are creeping up—or they’re already on medication and want natural ways to support their body better. The good news? There’s one simple, natural approach that keeps showing up as remarkably effective in the research—and it doesn’t require fancy equipment, long workouts, or even breaking a sweat. It’s called wall sits (or wall squats),...
Dear Natural Health Friends, The problem with the “information age” is that a lot of information just ends up being too much. I’m going to date myself—I remember when we first started using computers in my undergrad chemistry class. It took forever for me to figure them out! Then in chiropractic school, I mainly used word processing programs to take notes and share them with classmates. Back then, if you wanted solid information on a topic, you had to buy a VHS tape, pick up a book, head to...
