Weekend Baking Ideas-Gluten Free and Dairy Free!

Dear Natural Health Friends,

Dr. Sheehan asked me what the email was going to be about this week. I told him I didn’t know. So, he left it up to me! I’m going to share about one of my favorite topics…baking!

It’s going to be the weekend soon and of course I’m thinking about food.

This Banana Cream Pie recipe is decadent and really scratches that itch for a rich dessert. The crust is perfect and the filling is just sweet enough. Make sure you have good gallbladder function (or AF Betafood nearby), though, as this pie has a ridiculous amount of healthy fats.

Here is a Gluten Free Cinnamon Roll recipe that I love because it’s yeasted! That extra step of letting it rise just really adds something. It has xanthan gum and in general the recipe is not as simple as what I normally gravitate toward, but it’s worth the extra work. And you’d better put the glaze on it or straight to jail!!

And—last but not least—this Coconut Flour Chocolate Cake with Vegan Chocolate Ganache is pretty much exactly how the recipe sounds. I adore this recipe so much that I’m considering buying her cookbook! It’s so easy and my mouth is watering just thinking about biting into the moist cake and dense ganache.

I bake every week and have tried so many recipes…the recipes above really shine and I bake them over and over again!

So—what sorts of delicious gluten free and dairy free items have you been whipping up in your kitchens? I want to hear all about it!

Sincerely yours in healthy desserts,

Laura Sheehan

Dear Natural Health Friends, Laura and I have been doing a deep dive lately into what makes people sick—and more importantly, what we can do to help the body heal and stay strong. One thing keeps coming up again and again: so many people are dealing with immune system challenges and disturbances in their microbiome. The Human Microbiome: Health Starts in the Gut The microbiome is the community of bacteria, fungi, viruses, and other microorganisms that live in and on our bodies—especially in...

Dear Natural Health Friends, High blood pressure is one of those things I see so often in practice. Many people come in feeling fine but discover their numbers are creeping up—or they’re already on medication and want natural ways to support their body better. The good news? There’s one simple, natural approach that keeps showing up as remarkably effective in the research—and it doesn’t require fancy equipment, long workouts, or even breaking a sweat. It’s called wall sits (or wall squats),...

Dear Natural Health Friends, The problem with the “information age” is that a lot of information just ends up being too much. I’m going to date myself—I remember when we first started using computers in my undergrad chemistry class. It took forever for me to figure them out! Then in chiropractic school, I mainly used word processing programs to take notes and share them with classmates. Back then, if you wanted solid information on a topic, you had to buy a VHS tape, pick up a book, head to...
