Dear Natural Health Friends,
This week I will share my 5 strategies for feeding your family well on a budget. For each point, there is a link if you would like to learn more.
1) Have a budget.
Good health includes good financial health. Here is a link to a great system for having a budget and generally getting your finances in order. https://www.ramseysolutions.com/dave-ramsey-7-baby-steps
2) Don’t buy organic.
That's right. I said don't buy organic.
There’s such a thing as eating organic badly. Organic pop-tarts are a case in point. Focus on the right types of foods first. For example, prioritize protein foods like meat over anything processed. And don’t worry if it’s not organic. We’re here to do better with our eating, not be perfect.
3) Shop at discount stores.
There are a lot of great ones, where you can still get amazing deals. You may be shocked at how much less expensive certain items are at these stores than at your regular grocery store.

P.S. NEVER shop at Whole Foods if you want to save money
4) Meal plan
Meal planning requires a little bit of time and effort, but having food already prepped and ready to go definitely saves money by cutting down on last minute restaurant runs and convenience expenditures.
Here is one of my favorite meal planning sites, with weeks and weeks of healthy meal plans (I like her app too):

5) Buy a freezer and buy bulk
If you can swing it, it’s worth it to buy a large freezer and then buy bulk when the opportunity arises. Buying meat this way is the cheapest. You can often find a way to buy ½ or ¼ beef or pork if you ask around. If you’re interested, let me know--I may know some people who sell meat like this. You can also buy large quantities of fruits or veg and freeze them.
I hope these were helpful suggestions; if you have any of your own please let us know and we’ll share them!
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Laura Sheehan

Hey everyone, One troubling trend I'm seeing more and more in my practice is people skipping breakfast—often under the trendy name of "intermittent fasting." Many claim it's fantastic for weight loss and improving insulin resistance. From my experience reviewing many people’s labs, I have to disagree—it rarely delivers the promised long-term results. Sure, you might see a little initial weight loss, but it's often negligible over time, and it can seriously disrupt your hormones. Here's why:...
Hello everyone, A Momentous Win For Health in Our Country So, as most of you already know, the USDA food pyramid that we have been using for the last several decades got turned upside down last week! In other words, yes, they were putting out the exact wrong guidelines for decades! No wonder people were getting progressively sicker! Under the old food pyramid, we saw a huge uptick of chronic diseases like cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and childhood illnesses, that we never had...
Dear Natural Health Friends, Consider this quote concerning your cholesterol level: “If you’re on the normal distribution, you’re normal – end of. That’s 77 – 387 mg/dL – all normal. Normal means don’t worry.” Wait, what? 387 mg/dL total cholesterol is normal?!? This is a quote from a review article I read recently by independent researcher Zoe Harcombe. Her article is titled "Worried about cholesterol?" (updated in 2025), and it aligns perfectly with everything we know about real, ancestral...
